ABOUT THE
ORGANIZATION ...

In 1984, two volunteer coordinators from the twin cities area churches met to discuss the similarities and needs they had in continuing to build ministry in their faith communities.

Other coordinators eventually joined the discussion, and formal meetings were held twice a year, Building from their common beliefs in the scripture, which call for individuals to share their gifts, they formed a network of support and encouragement.

In 1990, plans were made to form an official networking group named MACVC (Minnesota Association of Church Volunteer Coordinators). The organization was incorporated in 1992 and gained non-profit status in 1994. MACVC is one of the first church volunteer coordinator organizations in the United States.

In 2000 the organization voted to change their name to Directors of Church Volunteer Ministries and to adopt the current Mission statement.
